Dickson Dam Upgrade

When your talking about an upgrade to something it doesn’t get any bigger than a dam.

Dickson Dam is a flow regulation dam constructed in 1983 which impounded the Red Deer River creating a reservoir known as Gleniffer Lake (Alberta). The dam is located 20 km (12 mi) west of the town of Innisfail and 50 km (31 mi) southwest of the city of Red Deer. The dam was created to control floods and low winter flows, to improve quality of the river, to create a recreational resource and to provide a reliable, year-round water supply sufficient for future industrial, regional and municipal growth.

The Welding Shop Calgary was tasked with retro fitting the huge dam doors that control the flow of water at the dam.

Assisted Living Stair Well

Residential homes, especially those in most subdivisions, have standard stair wells and the stair defined as the riser and the step or tread. This is for ease of installation and for pre-fabrication.

Most industrial or community spaces have specific dimension for their stair and stairwells determined by the use and traffic. For example a hospital or office may have a wide stair well and a heavier steel fabricated stair for ease of traffic and the wear and tear of heavy equipment.

These heavy steel stair wells will be installed in a local retirement home where the need for room to maneuver equipment and personnel is a must.

Welding Destruction

The old adage what goes up must come down applies to everything.

With welding we are usually repairing or building something from start to finish but in this case our job was to help deconstruct this LRT train walkway canopy.

This LRT station in Calgary need to have it’s metal roof removed. The Welding Shop Calgary cut the metal support posts to facilitate the removal by crane.

These heavy duty well and deep drill hole water testing cups, when finally attached to a drop tether, provide a necessary purpose when testing for unwanted chemical and natural toxins in deep well and drill holes.

The heavy duty cups are welded together with 1/4 inch aluminum and last for years and are perfect for drilling companies and the oil field taking water and fluid samples at depth.

Welding an Incinerator
