Calgary Stampede July 6-15, 2018

Celebrating 106 years of the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth!

Join us at the parade Friday July 6th, 2018 with this year’s Grand Marshal Olympic snowboarder Mark McMorris. The parade procession through downtown Calgary streets is the annual kick-off to the Calgary Stampede. It begins at 8:55 am, but head down to the parade route early to ensure you get a great viewing spot.

For 10 days it’s a citywide celebration of true western hospitality in a party atmosphere!

The Calgary Stampede has grown into one of the world’s richest rodeos, one of Canada’s largest festivals and a significant tourist attraction for the city.

Worlds Best Ping Pong Table

The Welding Shop Calgary Solid Metal Ping Pong TableBefore you make the worlds best ping pong table you have to take a moment to see where the common particle board, stuck in the corner of the basement, suburban ping pong table came from.

Table Tennis or Ping Pong, originated in Victorian England, where it was played among the upper-class as an after-dinner parlour game.

It has been suggested that makeshift versions of the game were developed by British military officers in the 1860s or 1870s, who set up books across the middle of a normal table and hit a golf ball back and forth using other books as paddles.

The next major innovation was by James W. Gibb, a British enthusiast of table tennis, who discovered novelty celluloid balls on a trip to the US in 1901

In the 1950s, paddles that used a rubber sheet combined with an underlying sponge layer changed the game dramatically.

The table itself underwent various iterations as technology advanced until 2018 when The Welding Shop Calgary hand welded the first Full Metal Ping Pong Table.

The Welding Shop Calgary RV Water Heater RepairWith the great weather everyone is getting their RV’s and Trailers out of hibernation. Some stored in good health in the yard or driveway, others at a local self storage facility just waiting for their owners to come and dust of the dash board.

Here’s a common occurrence that many will encounter after such a cold winter. If you left some water in your RV or Trailer water heater you could be left with a nice crack in the casing.

Everyone Needs an Upgrade

Every now and then everyone needs an upgrade.

The Welding shop Calgary built these brand new hoppers for the City of Calgary asphalt plant but that was only half the battle. Getting them into place took a little nudge and a big crane but the upgrade was a success.
