What are we celebrating anyway?

Canada Day celebrates the birthday of Canada. On July 1, 1867 Canada became a new federation with its own constitution by signing the Constitution Act – formerly known as the British North America Act.

This year we should take a moment to appreciate our country and the unity and strength we have shown during the COVID-19 pandemic. While there have been serious social and economic costs, our adherence to the restrictions put in place have made a difference. Let’s keep it going…

Can’t Be Too Careful

Welding, Not Just Industrial

Welding is a Grind

Some days Welding is a grind. It’s not always sparks and bright lights.

These mulchers had a few miles on them and their hinge points for the hydraulic systems had become compromised.

After removing the hinge points, grinding down the surfaces to create clean weld points we rebuilt the hinges and re-welded them to their original possessions.

Cable Reel/Spool Stand

Most cable reels, sometimes called drums are typically made from wooden slats that carry things like wire products, electrical cables and fiber optic cable much like those Telus is installing in Neighbourhoods around Calgary. These cable reels come in four different types, each with a different purpose: wood, plywood, plastic and steel.

Radon Venting System

Because Radon venting systems don’t come in a one size fits all configuration many of these installs need unique housings to hold the schedule 40 PVC required for proper venting of the gas. . Radon venting systems are very particular in their construction to keep condensation heading in the right direction back to the soil and to make sure there is no chance of a leak.

This May long weekend will look a little different

With the Victoria Day Weekend approaching, there are still many public health restrictions in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and many businesses and services will be closed.

Unfortunately it won’t be May long weekend cottage life and camping as usual either as all National and Alberta parks are closed to visitors and Parks Canada is recommending to ‘stay home’. If you are planning on heading out, be sure to check your local area rules and regulations beforehand.

Even though our weekend dreams may be dashed, it’s important to remember that these circumstances aren’t forever. There will be many more long weekends ahead to enjoy when safe to do so, and with everyone working together to get through this, hopefully that time isn’t in the too distant future. Let’s do our part and make the best of our uncertain times.

Safety Caged Ladders

Making sure that outside ladders, typically bolted to the sides of warehouses and tall buildings, are safe can come down to the installation of the cages that are welded to the rail structure.
